A year into the marriage of 18 year-old Thando and Siyacela, things are not going as planned. Siyacela has dropped out of high school, he spends his days sleeping and pondering polygamy, whilst his matriculant wife, is still chasing after her dream to become a social worker.

Dlamuka is at loggerheads with Siyacela’s maternal grandmother. She wants the teenagers to play in the street and to be treated as children, whilst tradition in the Dlamuka compound is guided by strict adherence to traditional customs.
